Want to ride the Low-Key Hill Climbs series, but can't make the big Saturday group? This week's climb is Montebello, the traditional opener for the series.

We'll meet at Monta Vista Park (water and bathrooms), get a pleasant warmup up Mt Eden, then regroup for water + bathrooms just before the LKHC segment starts.

Montebello is 5.1 miles with ~2,000 feet of climbing, and divides neatly into three sections: a hard opening, with about 1/4 mile at 12%+ and a full mile at 9%+; a long false-flat middle, including roughly a mile under 3%; and a mostly steady 7–8% finish with the occasional ramp. Ride leader will be doing a max effort up the climb, but please feel free to ride it as hard or as easy as you like! We'll regroup at the top.

Afterward we'll resupply at the cars, then keep the rest of the ride chill through the foothills, including a sweet little loop around Moody Road and Moody Court with about a mile of smooth, mild uphill dirt (should be perfectly comfortable on road tires; we'll skip it if it's rained recently). We'll stop at Foothills Park for water/bathrooms again, descend Altamont, and head back to the start.
