Another difficult climb as we climb some giant switchbacks on the flanks of the Sierra with an incredible vista of the wide open Owens Valley! A false summit is followed by a short descent before climbing resumes to Horseshoe Meadows (el. 10,100'). On the way back to town we’ll cycle through the lovely Alabama Hills. SHORT route starts just before the first big switchback at 6,500’. The EZ START option (need carpool) follows the SHORT route, then glides all the way back down to Lone Pine. Carry your lunch and a lot of water for the ride (water is only available at summit). This ride is co-listed with ACTC.

LONG START: Meet at the Best Western Frontier Motel, 1008 S. Main St., Lone Pine, CA. at 8:15 am for a prompt 8:30 departure . If not staying at hotel please park on Teya Road on the north side of the hotel.
SHORT/EZ START: Meet at 8:45 am for a prompt 9:00 departure at roadside pull off just before the first large switchback. From Lone Pine drive 3.5 miles south to RIGHT on Lubken Canyon Road, then drive 3.5 miles to LEFT on Horseshoe Meadows Road. Drive 5 miles then park on right at pull off just before the 1st big switchback (12.2 miles from motel).
