This route takes us to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest (el. 10,100') in Inyo National Forest. This is a very big day to cycle up to the old wood in the heavens of White Mountain – nice visitor center at the summit surrounded by Bristlecone Pines. The Inyo Mountains are not heavily forested, so you can see the whole thing start to finish and gaze down on the Palisade Glaciers of the Sierra. SHORT/EZ START options meet half way up the climb at White Mountain Road junction. There is small spring at mile 8.3 of long route (may or may not be active). NOTE: Visitor Center is currently open every day. If visitor center is open you might be charged a nominal fee ($3.00) to enter Bristlecone - bring money or your NPS park pass. Carry your lunch and a lot of water on the ride – water available for purchase if open. This ride is co-listed with ACTC.

LONG START: Meet at Mendenhall Park in Big Pine, CA. at 8:15 am for a prompt 8:30 departure . From Bishop drive 15 miles south on US-395 to Big Pine, right on Baker Creek Road - 0.1 miles to parking area/restrooms on left.
SHORT/EZ START: Meet at the junction of Hwy 168 and White Mountain Road at 8:45 for a prompt 9:00 departure . Drive south 15 miles on US-395, then 13 miles east on Hwy 168, turn left on White Mountain Road then immediately park on right side of road.
