122 mi, 5 M, 7250 ft; Old Santa Cruz Hwy,Hazel Dell,Eureka Canyon

On this training ride, we head over the hill and beat the heat and see some different roads and sights as we loop to Castroville and Salinas. Starting at the Lexington School, we ride up OSC and down Soquel-San Jose to some coastside riding south to Castroville with a potential lunch stop in Salinas (mile 58). We then head back north, along Elkhorn Slough, to Watsonville (Gizdich?) and around Hazel Dell to Corralitos to stock up on water for the slog up Eureka Canyon and back to the start.
We'll make a water and restroom stop at Cummings Park (m18) or Seacliff (m26) on the outbound. Expect a moderate pace with regroups at summits and noted rest stops. Major climbs come early and late with a lot of rollers in between. Anyone wanting to cut it short can cross to the return leg in Watsonville eliminating 40 or more miles.
