Ride Information for 7/16/26
Thaco Thursday Tours #3 "Tour de Hoover!" (B+C/0.7/20)
THIS RIDE REQUIRES PRE-REGISTRATION - See Details Below
This month's TTT route traverses most of the local "Hoover-centric" sites, including a school, a park, an historic home, a memorial plaza, a medical campus and the iconic Hoover Tower!
Due to the visitor requirements at Hoover Tower, we need to limit our group to less than 20, so we'd like to ask people to pre-register via this SVBE link:
https://bikex.org/?view=article&id=330:thaco-thursdays-with-a-view-2026&catid=28
Go to the "Thaco Thursdays event page" and register for this event on the 7/16 date. Our apologies for this unusual request.
IMPORTANT INFO: Hoover Tower has an $8 per person entry fee (no cash)
Please bring a lock so we can secure our bikes in the racks next to the front entrance.
It would also be nice to have walkable shoes (wear or bring) for the hard floors!
We plan to spend about 40+ minutes here, which should be enough time to enjoy the very unique 360 degree views from this iconic 285 ft, 85 year old tower!
All TTT rides START from Silicon Valley Bike Exchange, @ 9:45 for a 10am roll out.
SVBEx is located at 3961 East Bayshore Rd, just north of San Antonio Rd on the east side of Hwy 101. Their parking lot is behind the building. (water & restroom avail)
This TTT month's route is only 20 miles, and has a very mellow 340 ft of gain, all in the mid-route Stanford zone.
The first regroup is at Herbert Hoover Park at mile 5.5 with water and restrooms.
This shorter than usual route will allow ample time to take in the lofty Hoover Tower vistas, at mile 10.2, and enjoy the delicious tacos, etc. at La Cazuela close to the lunch hour!
This month's route also has a Snack Stop at the Palo Alto PATAGONIA Store in Palo Alto at mile 12.
Patagonia created this collaborative with SVBEx, to inspire more people to ride their bike and support SVBEx too.
Our THACO Stop is at mile 15.8, and we'll return the last 4.2 miles via the EPA/PA Baylands trails.
The REGROUPS are well-spaced and most have restrooms.
This is a very mellow, social-paced ride, mostly on quiet residential roads and paths, so no one will be dropped.
WW's all know this but please make sure your bike is in good shape, tires and brakes are all trustworthy and of course, Helmets are REQUIRED.
The weather looks nice this week, mid to high 70's near the bay, so bring your Water Bottles , and dress in light/bright colors to be visible to traffic!
This year , we will have the usual WW Sign-In Sheet (Optional/for club mileage) and the SVBEx will also have a Sign-In Sheet. (required for their insurance)
If you have any questions, or issues with the Reg Process , please email me at: randallb@routearrows.com or call/text at: 415-265-4663
