On Saturday, June 6 we're going to take on an Everest Roam (227 miles, 29,502 feet) in one day. It's a banger. And we gotta get fit. So here's a series of workouts to sharpen the climbing legs. Each week they'll get progressively tougher. Join for one, or for all. And even if you're not gonna Everest, but just want a good workout...all watts are welcome!
TLDR:
⏰ Meet: 7:00am
🚴🏻♀️ Roll: 7:05am
📍 Location: Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center
🛣️ Surface: Road
🥵 Pace: 13-15mph (all folks welcome)
🤝 Pace: You do you, we might be on different paces, but we will regroup at end
☕️ Coffee: Flywheel or we can decide as a group
WORKOUTS: (I have a 250 FPT, so will use my numbers for context)
May 12: 3 x 6 min hard (threshold: 242-246 w)
May 19: 4 x 6 min hard (threshold: 242-246 w)
May 26: 5 x 6 min hard (threshold: 242-246 w)
June 2: 6 x 6 min hard (threshold: 242-246 w)
The idea is to increase our sweet spot and build a bigger engine for the big effort June 6.
THE LONG STORY:
Each week we'll offer an interval workout. This way you can add a little spice to your weekly rides.
You can choose to follow the workout, or do your own.
The goal will be to increase your fitness, stamina, and find your "climbing legs"
Intervals will start at the "bottom" of hawk (where you would turn off the bridge) and then after the first interval (turn around at 6 minutes) we'll descend to the backside and climb back up McCulluogh, repeating the workout till we're finished and go for coffee.
PACE: this is up to you. Personally, I'll be trying to hold a threshold interval (which for me is around 242 watts) but again, do what makes sense for you.
The goal of this ride isn't necessarily to ride together. But it is to have the group support while we're all "working" on our intervals (if that makes sense?)
And if this is too long. No sweat. Shorten it to what makes sense for you. The goal is for camaraderie and support. Any work is great work!
Bring yourself, your helmet (mandatory), your flat fixing kit (and the skills of how to use it) along with a pal. And we'll see you at the GGB at 7am.
