For today’s ride we’ll drive up to the summit we rode to the day before, then ride across the more remote northern area of the park to Manzanita Lake. It is possible that the road will be closed to vehicles but open to bikes for 12 miles (depends on the snow year). Depending on the road conditions we may start at Bumpass Hell Trailhead or Lassen Peak Trailhead (both routes shown below). The main CD route turns around at the Manzanita Lake Store (snacks/water/restrooms). BC riders wanting a shorter route can turn around at Lost Creek Group Campground (water/restrooms) or earlier. We will plan a lunch stop at North Summit Lake Campground on the return trip – PACK LUNCH! (Sandwiches are available from the hotel if you order early.) After arriving back at your vehicle at the summit, anyone with a carpool up the mountain can ride downhill all the way back to the Mineral Lodge! (CDM-LONG ROUTE). NOTE: Carpool if possible - if you do not have an NPS pass the entrance fee to the park is $30.00 per vehicle (valid 7 days), but the ride is worth it! (no cash - credit card only!)
