NORTHERN SIERRA – INDIAN VALLEY LOOP
We’ll check out of our Quincy lodging and drive to Greenville for a lovely relatively easy lasso loop around Indian Valley. You may see bison on ranches along the way! The town of Greenville was burned to the ground in the Dixie Fire in 2021 and is slowly rebuilding (Greenville Fire). The route follows an easy climb on Diamond Valley Road to view the historic Engles Copper Mine, then backtracks to Taylorsville for lunch. There should be two options for lunch in Taylorsville but service may be slow (or choose to pack a lunch). For the return doubling back on our outbound route avoids traveling busy highway 89. B route skips the Diamond Valley out-n-back. D route adds Genesee Road east from Taylorsville to Beckworth Junction (11 miles) or as far as you want to go! It is now paved all the way to Antelope Lake (additional 11 miles/2200’). After the ride we’ll drive to our Chester hotel (about 30 minutes plus possible construction delays).
