Before the fun stuff we need to be very clear…
THIS IS NOT AN EASY RIDE
That said, this is also an incredibly rewarding experience and a crazy amount of fun. So without further ado…

RIDE DETAILS:

Pre-Ride Safety Talk: 8:20am
Roll: 8:30am
Hummingbird Fuels and Rapha are excited to host this event. We will have fuel at the start of the ride and midway on Mines road (at The Junction) right where you need it ;)
ABOUT THE RIDE:
This route leaves from the Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa BART station and takes riders up Diablo. You can refuel at the top (there’s a small shop and a water fountain).
We then descend into Livermore where you can grab lunch (we’ll hit McDonalds ;) but feel free to grab whatever you prefer). This is the end of the Single Shot. These riders will then roll to the Dublin / Pleasanton BART station to head home.
DOUBLE SHOT RIDERS... Will then tackle the rolling hills up Mines Road, hit the Hummingbird Fuels Re-Fuel Station at The Junction.
RAPHA WILL BE AT THE JUNCTION WITH AN OASIS (aka a resupply with fuel, water and food.
Then take on the final climb of the day—the backside of Hamilton (a 10% average grade).
Once you finally make it to the top (where the observatory is) you'll find washrooms, a water fountain and some vending machines (better than nothing haha).
Wash the salt off your face, take some celebratory pics and put on a jacket before your final 20 miles.
Your reward for all that climbing, is a buttery smooth, flowy descent into San Jose where you can grab public transit home (the Berryessa/North San Jose BART station, or CalTrain is just a few miles away).
This is not an easy ride. Both Single Shot and Double Shot are challenging. Ensure you bring a flat fixing kit. The knowledge of how to use it. And are self-sufficient. This is a minimally supported ride.
