Ride Description

Join Fredo Cirne  (walfredo.cirne@gmail.com, 408-931-4133) on Saturday Dec 13th for the classic Dirty Alpine gravel climb.  We meet at 8:45 for a 9:00 departure in the Burgess Park in Menlo Park (parking lot at Alma St and Burgess Dr).

This route contains the beautiful Dirty Alpine climb, to give us the chance to breathe above the pollution that currently plagues the valley.  We are getting there using the Alpine Trail, not Alpine Road as most people typically do.  We also take the path less pedaled on the way back, going through Esther Clark Park.  From there, a few gravel and paved paths take us to Stanford, where we have lunch at the Treehouse.  Note that lunch is near the end of the ride, so bring snacks to make till there. :-)

This ride is great fun and very scenic, but keep in mind it contains a good amount of gravel.  I'd recommend a gravel, city or mountain bike with 38mm tires or more.  That said, if you are comfortable doing gravel with skinny 28mm tires, all the power to you!
