Ever wanted to see what some of the more approachable roads are down in the South Bay? Perhaps you've heard of people riding down there to get to and from work and you haven't really known where these roads actually are?
Join me for a lap of the South Bay, aka "Silicon Valley" proper through a little bit of everything - big roads with few stops, shaded climbs, bike paths past reservoirs, and even some dirt (very, very approachable and flat gravel out by the bay). We'll even go past the San Jose airport through one of the more unique bike paths I know of in the bay!
Let's start by public transit at the Palo Alto Caltrain station. If anyone wants to cut things short, the option exists to head back from San Jose back up to Palo Alto, since Caltrain now runs every 30 minutes on the weekends.
First train from SF leaves at 7:55am and gets into Palo Alto at 8:46am, just in time for a 9am roll out time. Schedule is here: https://www.caltrain.com/media/35401 - if you want a coffee at the nearby Verve or somewhere else nearby, please arrive earlier so as to enjoy your delicious morning drink or have one before hopping on the train.
Depending on when we finish, a straight shot back to SF will take about the same amount of time. It's a quiet and smooth ride, with plenty of space on the train for bikes.
Ride with us! If you plan to attend, please also RSVP on the Rapha app so that we can more easily communicate with each other. See you all there!
