Hi Wheelers!
I will be traveling in December, so to make up for it, we will have two Lovely Bays this month. :-) Besides the third Sunday, we will do the second Monday too. Lovely Bay goes to Niles on Monday November 9.
This is really a special ride. We will do 65 miles with almost no cars and through gorgeous scenery. We meet at 8:30 for an 8:45 departure from Burgess Park, in Menlo Park. We start gravel with the flowy trails of Bedwell, cross Dumbarton to Coyote Hills, and take Alameda Creek Trail to Niles, where we have lunch at Joe's Corner. We come back and do Byxbee to close the day.
This is a mostly flat gravel ride. But there is one short steep climb (in Coyote Hills) to scratch that climbing itch all Wheelers have. :-) Up gravel, down pavement. Scenic and fun.
I'd recommend a gravel, MTB or city bike with 38mm tires or more. That said, if you are comfortable doing gravel with skinny tires, all the power to you!
